Boryeong Mud Festival Wins Korea Brand Award

Reinterpreting Mud as a High-Value Tourism Resource and Establishing It as a Unique Festival

Boryeong Mud Festival Wins Korea Brand Award

The Boryeong Mud Festival, one of South Korea's representative festivals, will receive the Prime Minister's Award at the Korea Brand Awards on the 12th.

The Boryeong Mud Festival has reinterpreted mud, once considered dirty, as a high-value-added tourism resource, establishing itself as a unique festival. Since 1998, it has attracted millions of domestic and international tourists every year, offering participants differentiated, experience-focused content and world-class events.

In particular, by utilizing the natural resources of mud in various programs and implementing global promotional strategies, the festival has attracted foreign tourists, revitalized the local economy, and promoted Korea's cultural uniqueness to the world.

Boryeong City plans to further strengthen its globalization strategy for the festival and actively pursue ways to positively impact the local economy by linking mud-based wellness and healing industries, cosmetics, and other secondary and tertiary industries.

Mayor Kim Dongil stated, "We will enhance the content of the Boryeong Mud Festival so that people around the world can enjoy it together, and create greater economic ripple effects by connecting it with local industries."
