On the 11th at 5 p.m., Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, attended the lighting ceremony of the Gyeongchun Line Gongneung Forest Path Light Street, created along the Gyeongchun Line Forest Trail.
The Gyeongchun Line Gongneung Forest Path is a park created from the former abandoned Gyeongchun Line railway, and it is a beloved attraction for local residents and visitors.
The newly established light-themed street spans about 300 meters from Mirage Bakery to Mubong-ri Sundaeguk, featuring various light sculpture works such as ▲Welcome Heart Balloon Arch ▲Sky Lanterns ▲Ballerina and Angel ▲Butterflies ▲Light Tunnel, offering visitors new visual experiences.
Additionally, a 111-meter section of the retaining wall along Gyeongchun Line Gongneung Forest Path (Gongneung-ro 27-gil) was newly renovated. Due to aging and aesthetic concerns, the existing mural was replaced during wall repairs with a 'Ilwol Obongdo' mural in the traditional Dancheong relief style.
The lighting ceremony commemorating the creation of the light-themed street was attended by about 100 people, including Mayor Oh Seung-rok, city and district council members, Gyeongchun Line Gongneung Forest Path merchants, and residents. The event proceeded in the order of ▲Opening ▲Progress Report ▲Congratulatory Speech ▲Plaque of Appreciation ▲Lighting ▲Commemorative Photo ▲Rounding.
At the lighting ceremony, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, said, “Through the creation of this light-themed street, the Gyeongchun Line Gongneung Forest Path has transformed into a lively place during the day and a sophisticated nightscape attraction at night. We will continue to strive so that Gongneung Forest Path and the local commercial district can coexist and become a space loved by all.”
