Government Begins APEC Chairmanship Activities... "Holding Informal Senior Officials Meeting"

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 11th that it held the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Informal Senior Officials' Meeting (ISOM) to discuss cooperation measures among member countries.

The meeting was held in Seoul from the 9th of this month until today. As the chair country for 2025, the government presented its main goals to the member countries. The members expressed strong support and high expectations for Korea's leadership and stated that they would actively cooperate to ensure a successful hosting.

Yoon Sung-mi, Chair of the APEC Senior Officials' Meeting, held bilateral talks with the Chair of the 2024 APEC Senior Officials' Meeting from Peru, senior representatives from the United States, China, Japan, Vietnam, Canada, Russia, and the APEC Secretariat, who visited Korea to attend the meeting, discussing cooperation measures.

Meanwhile, Cho Tae-yeol, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a welcome dinner for the senior officials delegation on the 9th. At this event, Minister Cho stated that he would do his best to adopt meaningful outcomes during next year's leaders' meeting.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "Through holding this meeting, Korea's activities as the 2025 APEC chair country have officially begun."
