Donation and Health Checkup Vouchers Provided to Vulnerable Groups

Gwangju Transportation Corporation (President Jo Ik-moon) held a donation ceremony for the "Stairway of Love for Health" at its headquarters in Maruk-dong, Seo-gu, on the 11th, together with Shinsegae Eye Clinic (Chief Director Kim Jae-bong).
At the event, donations of 8 million KRW and eye health checkup vouchers worth 2.25 million KRW were delivered to the Joyful Senior Daycare Center, Gwangju Migrant Women Support Center, Notre Dame Brothers' House, and Gwangju Seo-gu Public Health Center.
The "Stairway of Love for Health" was established in 2015 with the support of Shinsegae Eye Clinic at Exit 4 of Sangmu Station on the Gwangju Metropolitan Rapid Transit. Every time citizens use these stairs once, 10 KRW is accumulated as a donation. Through the operation of the Stairway of Love for Health, the corporation has so far delivered a total of about 53 million KRW in funds and about 12.75 million KRW worth of eye health checkup vouchers to vulnerable groups, spreading warmth throughout the local community.
In particular, the stairs play piano scale melodies whenever stepped on, adding fun to the use of the metro and gaining great response as a space for sharing love in daily life that simultaneously promotes citizens' health and helps neighbors.
President Jo Ik-moon said, "I thank Shinsegae Eye Clinic and the citizens who have sincerely contributed to sharing warmth throughout the local community," and added, "We will continue to carry out various social contribution activities to realize a happy Gwangju full of love and consideration."
