Silla University Nursing Department Student Gong Chaeyeong Receives Minister of the Interior and Safety Award at Busan Saemaeul Leaders Conference

Shilla University (President Heo Nam-sik) Department of Nursing announced on the 11th that student Gong Chae-young received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award at the 'Busan Saemaeul Leaders Conference.'

At the '2024 Busan Saemaeul Leaders Conference' held on November 21st at the first-floor auditorium of Busan City Hall, Gong Chae-young, a nursing student at Shilla University who contributed to the development of the nation and local community based on outstanding leadership and the fundamental spirit of the Saemaeul Movement, was honored with the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award.

Gong Chae-young, who serves as the vice president of the national Saemaeul clubs and president of the Shilla University Saemaeul club, has actively engaged in various activities for community development, including multiple carbon neutrality campaigns and plogging activities, meal distribution and sharing clothes and snacks for the homeless in collaboration with the Busan Hope Dream Center, packaging Samgyetang and Samgyetjuk for the elderly in the community, participating in various programs with people with disabilities, and rural volunteer work.

Gong Chae-young said, “As the president of the Shilla University Saemaeul club, I faced many difficulties while contemplating and planning meaningful activities, but thanks to the active participation of the members, I was able to take responsibility and work hard. Through various volunteer activities, I discovered a brighter version of myself and was able to find what I truly want to do and which fields I am interested in. I am very happy to receive such a great award during these joyful days.”

Lee Sun-ok, head of the Department of Nursing at Shilla University, expressed pride, saying, “Gong Chae-young’s warm heart, conveyed to the local community through steady Saemaeul club activities as well as various efforts for the department’s development as the vice president of the department, seems to have led to the achievement of receiving the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award.”
