On the 11th, Gyeonggi Yangju City (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced that it was honored to be selected as an 'Outstanding Institution for Social Disability Awareness Improvement Education' this year and received the Director Award from the Korea Disabled People's Development Institute.

'Social Disability Awareness Improvement Education' is a legally mandated education based on Article 25 of the Welfare of Disabled Persons Act, targeting national institutions, local governments, and public organizations.

The city is known to have been recognized for its contribution to enhancing the effectiveness of education and improving social awareness of persons with disabilities by conducting customized disability awareness education not only for public officials such as city hall staff and employees but also for citizens.

A Yangju city official stated, "Respecting persons with disabilities as they are and creating a culture of inclusion is the direction our Yangju City should pursue," adding, "We will continue to operate various education programs and activities that can broaden positive social awareness of persons with disabilities."

Meanwhile, Yangju City is also making significant efforts to improve convenience for persons with disabilities, including creating barrier-free sharing paths and inclusive playgrounds within parks, supporting the purchase of low-floor buses, improving pedestrian environments around crosswalks, and supporting ramp installation projects.
