Gwangju Civic Group "Guksubon Must Arrest Yoon and Related Persons for Treason"

A civic group in Gwangju has urged the National Investigation Headquarters to swiftly arrest President Yoon Seok-yeol and related parties who triggered the 'Emergency Martial Law Incident' and to clearly uncover the full details of the situation.

The 'Immediate Resignation of the Yoon Seok-yeol Regime, Gwangju Emergency Action for Social Reform,' composed of civic groups in the Gwangju area, issued a statement on the 11th saying, "As Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment is delayed, critical evidence revealing the full scope of the 'December 3rd Insurrection Incident' is being seriously lost," and added, "The National Investigation Headquarters must promptly arrest Yoon Seok-yeol and related parties and secure evidence through searches and seizures."

They stated, "Yoon Seok-yeol used a North Korean infiltration unit to incite the disturbance and attempted to justify martial law," and called it "shocking that there was a plan to sacrifice the people as war victims."

They also criticized, "The People Power Party protected this dangerous insurrection ringleader to keep their badges," and said, "The People Power Party, which maintains its power even while sustaining a serious constitutional order suspension and the risk of a second coup, should be disbanded."

The Emergency Action group condemned, "Problems we feared in the prosecution's investigation are emerging one after another. Circumstances are increasingly revealed where former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun, who is already detained and imprisoned, is being scapegoated for the insurrection incident to cover up the case," and demanded, "The prosecution must immediately stop this illegal investigation show aimed at hiding the full truth of the insurrection."
