Former President Moon Jae-in stated regarding the December 3 emergency martial law incident, "The only orderly way to step down is to follow the will of the people and constitutional procedures," adding, "Although it is unfortunate, impeachment has become an unavoidable path."
On the 11th, former President Moon expressed this through social media (SNS), saying, "I hope the people will no longer suffer in the cold."
He said, "The world is appalled by the anachronistic act of democracy destruction called emergency martial law, yet it highly values the strong democratic capabilities of our people and the National Assembly," and added, "It is also up to the National Assembly to promptly end the people's suffering and the decline in national dignity caused by the martial law rebellion."
Former President Moon emphasized, "At this time when diplomacy is more important than ever, establishing a constitutionally recognized acting president is the most urgent matter," warning, "Otherwise, normal diplomacy cannot be conducted when necessary." He further stated, "If a constitutionally legitimate acting president is not established, it will be impossible to exercise normal military command during a security crisis," and earnestly urged, "I sincerely ask the members of the National Assembly to deeply consider these points as constitutional institutions."
