'Positive Reviews for Public-Private Joint Overcoming Cases'

Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Hee-su) announced on the 11th that the pine forest on Gwanmaedo Island in Jodo-myeon received the Grand Prize (Forest Service Commissioner Award) at the '1st Jeonnam in the Forest, Premium Forest' awards ceremony held on the 6th at the National Hwasun Healing Forest in Hwasun.

The Gwanmaedo pine forest was highly rated as a case of overcoming devastation caused by pine bark scale insects through organic cooperation between village residents, Jindo-gun, and the Forest Service to restore the pine forest and establish successor forests, representing a successful public-private partnership.

An official from the county stated, “We will strengthen the public forest functions such as afforestation projects and forest management in response to climate change, and create seasonal flower gardens based on the landscape forest of Sacheon area to establish a foundation for forest recreation and welfare. We will continue to work with the Forest Service to cultivate and discover beautiful premium forests.”
