Smoking Cessation Support Service Project Awarded Minister of Health and Welfare Prize and Gyeongbuk Governor Prize
Recognized for Efforts in Creating a Smoke-Free Community Environment and Promoting Residents' Health
Gumi City in Gyeongbuk has solidified its position as a leading city in smoking cessation efforts by consecutively winning awards at the smoking cessation project performance competitions hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and Gyeongbuk Province this year.

On the 27th of last month, Gumi Public Health Center was selected as an excellent institution for creating a smoke-free environment at the '2024 Community Smoking Cessation Project Best Practices Performance Competition' hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, receiving a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare.
Then, on December 11, it was selected as an excellent institution for smoking cessation support services at the '2024 Smoking Cessation Support Service Project Performance Competition' hosted by Gyeongbuk Province, receiving the Governor of Gyeongbuk Province Award.
The 'Community Smoking Cessation Project Best Practices Performance Competition' is held annually with participation from public health centers and related organizations nationwide to discover and disseminate best practices in smoking cessation projects. The 'Smoking Cessation Support Service Project Performance Competition' evaluates the achievements of smoking cessation projects in each region and selects outstanding institutions to encourage the promotion of community health. Both competitions hold great significance in reemphasizing the importance of creating smoke-free environments and reducing smoking rates.
Gumi Public Health Center leads efforts to reduce smoking rates and spread a culture of smoking cessation through various projects such as △ smoking cessation counseling and clinic operation △ smoking prevention education △ smoking cessation campaigns △ activities to create smoke-free environments. In particular, it has gained positive responses from local residents by creating an environment conducive to smoking cessation and providing personalized smoking cessation support.
