The newly appointed Senior Managing Director Shin Jung-ha was born in 1981 and graduated from New York University with a degree in Economics. He worked for over two years at Credit Suisse Seoul branch, a foreign investment bank (IB). In 2015, he joined KCA Claims Service, a Kyobo Life affiliate, as an assistant manager, gaining experience in the insurance industry from policy subscription to claim payment, which can be considered the beginning and end of life insurance. Afterwards, he went back to the U.S. for further studies and completed an MBA program at Columbia University.

In 2021, he moved to Kyobo Information & Communication (now Kyobo DTS) and worked as the head of the Digital Transformation (DX) New Business Team. The following May, he joined Kyobo Life Insurance as a deputy general manager. He served as the group digital transformation (DT) support officer and group data strategy team leader, overseeing the establishment of the group’s data system, checking the progress of DT initiatives, and formulating improvement plans, thereby supporting the acceleration of DT within the group.

Since 2021, while working at Kyobo DTS, Shin led the establishment of Dplanex, a data analysis specialized subsidiary of Kyobo DTS, and has devoted three years to building an integrated group data system and formulating the group’s digital strategy. In 2022, through industry-academic cooperation with KAIST, he opened the ‘KDK Future Insurance AI Research Center,’ a specialized research center for future insurance technology. Last year, to qualitatively expand data at the group level, he signed a business agreement to build Kyobo Group’s data system and infrastructure, continuously advancing data and AI-based digital innovation tasks.

Earlier this year, he was selected as a candidate for executive management and underwent a systematic development process for digital leadership, management knowledge, and insight capabilities, like other executive candidates. In April, he moved to the position of group management strategy officer and head of the group data task force. With this promotion, he is expected to handle AI utilization, VOC data, and group management strategy duties.

A Kyobo Life Insurance official stated, “The promotion of Senior Managing Director Shin Jung-ha was conducted under the same personnel principles applied to general employees,” and explained, “It is not a full-scale preparation for management succession but a process of steadily receiving management training according to Chairman Shin Chang-jae’s personnel principles.”
