The police are summoning Kim Jun-young, Chief of the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency, for investigation related to the 'December 3 Emergency Martial Law Incident.'
On the 11th, the Special Investigation Unit of the National Police Agency announced that Chief Kim is scheduled to appear at 2 p.m. that day to receive a witness investigation.
Under the orders of Police Chief Jo Ji-ho, Chief Kim instructed the Security Division Chief of the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency to implement safety measures and prepare for contingencies at the Gwacheon Central Election Commission building and the Suwon Election Training Center. At that time, the Gwacheon Police Station Chief, after consulting with the initial response team leader, ensured that deployment equipment such as K-1 rifles and ammunition boxes were brought in accordance with anti-terrorism protocols.
According to Yoon Gun-young, the opposition party floor leader of the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee and a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, the police officers of the Gwacheon Police Station initial response team deployed at the Gwacheon Central Election Commission building in Gyeonggi Province were armed with five K-1 rifles and 300 live rounds, while local police carried one pistol with three live rounds and one blank cartridge. The local police from the Suwon Western Police Station, who headed to another Election Commission facility, the Election Training Center in Suwon, were equipped with ten pistols, 30 live rounds, and 10 blank cartridges.
At the time of the martial law declaration, the police were responsible for external security, while the martial law troops entered the interior. A total of 211 police personnel were deployed at the two locations. At the Central Election Commission, 105 personnel were deployed, including the Gwacheon Police Station Chief, the Security and Traffic Division Chief, five members of the Gwacheon Police Station initial response team, four local police officers from Gwacheon Police Station, two detectives from Gwacheon Police Station, 19 members from the 4th Riot Police Unit 2nd Platoon, and 73 members from the 7th Riot Police Unit. At the Election Training Center, 106 personnel were assigned, including the Suwon Western Police Chief and staff of 14, six members of the Suwon Western Police Station initial response team, three detectives from Suwon Western Police Station, 20 local police officers from Suwon Western Police Station, and 63 members from the 2nd Riot Police Unit.
