Pocheon Rice, Export Officially Begins... Second Shipment to the United States

Mayor Baek Young-hyun: "Expanding markets in Europe and Southeast Asia... Building a foundation for Pocheon rice exports"

Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 11th that 1 ton of Pocheon rice was exported to San Francisco, USA. This export is the second achievement following the first export of 2.4 tons to Atlanta, USA in January.

Despite Gyeonggi rice having a relatively higher price compared to rice from Jeolla and Chungcheong regions, Pocheon City succeeded in the export after several price negotiations starting from August. The Pocheon rice was shipped from Busan Port on the 10th.

Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, “It is significant that Pocheon rice was exported to the US market despite the decrease in domestic rice consumption and the import of foreign rice. This will serve as an opportunity to internationally promote the excellence of Pocheon rice.”

He added, “Building on this achievement, we plan to expand the export market to Europe, Southeast Asia, and other regions, further strengthening the export foundation of Pocheon rice.”
