K-Agriculture Training Center for Foreigners Established in Buyeo, Chungnam

Buyeo County Signs Agreement with Chungnam National University on Establishment and Operation of International Agricultural Technology Education Center

A provisional institution, the Chungnam National University International Agricultural Technology Education Center, will be established in Buyeo, Chungnam, to teach K-agricultural technology to foreigners.

On the 11th, Buyeo County signed a business agreement with Chungnam National University to establish and operate the Chungnam National University International Agricultural Technology Education Center, aiming to transfer 'K-agriculture' to foreign agricultural trainees and workers.

Since 2023, as part of the 'K-Buyeo Goodttrae Agricultural Technology Overseas Expansion and Specialized Complex Creation Project,' the county has established an 11-hectare rice cultivation complex in Namangan, Uzbekistan, this year and transferred advanced domestic farming methods.

As a result, Uzbekistan achieved its first successful large-scale machine-transplanted rice cultivation.

According to the agreement, the two institutions will cooperate on △ the establishment and operation of the International Agricultural Technology Education Center △ collaboration for discovering education, research, and government-academic cooperation models △ laying the foundation for regional revitalization and the university's sustainable development.

They will also form a working-level consultative body and actively secure government and Official Development Assistance (ODA) funding for the establishment of the 'Chungnam National University International Agricultural Technology Education Center.'

The Chungnam National University International Agricultural Technology Education Center will be responsible for △ operating agricultural technology transfer and practical training programs for foreign trainees △ providing agricultural technology education for seasonal workers and international marriage migrants △ securing agricultural labor through guidance and counseling between farms and trainees.

The county expects that the establishment of the education center will help counteract regional depopulation and secure a resident population by developing and spreading cutting-edge 'K-agriculture' technology to foreigners and attracting young people to the area.

County Governor Park Junghyun said, "Buyeo County is a representative agricultural region of Korea, and I am very pleased that this agreement will enable us to achieve both advancement and internationalization of agricultural technology. We will continue to cooperate with Chungnam National University so that Buyeo County can become a hub for international agricultural education and further develop the local economy and agriculture."

President Kim Jeonggyeom stated, "The education center to be established in Buyeo County will play a role in globalizing our agricultural technology and actively responding to regional depopulation by attracting young people. If an educational support facility is newly established in Buyeo, a major area in the southwestern part of Chungnam, it will lay the foundation for building a mega campus connecting Daejeon, Chungnam, and Sejong."
