The Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism Donates to Gyeonggi Northern Temporary Child Shelter and Uijeongbu Infant Home
Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 11th that on the 10th, the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism (Chief Executive Jinwoo Sunim) donated goods and funds worth 30 million KRW to the Gyeonggi Northern Temporary Shelter for Children in Uijeongbu (Director Lee Sang-yeop) and the Uijeongbu Infant Home (Director Kim Su-jin).

On this day, Jinwoo Sunim, Chief Executive of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, Hosan Sunim, head monk of Bongseonsa Temple, the main temple of the 25th district of the Jogye Order, Ilhwa Sunim, executive director of the Beautiful Companion Foundation, and Dosim Sunim, head monk of Seongbulsa Temple and head of the social affairs department of the Jogye Order, gathered to create warm year-end memories for children in special circumstances.
In particular, due to the connection from the filming of the movie "Big Family," which premiered on the 11th, actor Lee Seung-gi, actress Kim Sung-ryung, and director Yang Woo-seok joined, making the occasion even more meaningful.
The Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism donated funds worth 23 million KRW, including the installation of automatic doors and computers, to the Gyeonggi Northern Temporary Shelter for Children, and 7 million KRW to the Uijeongbu Infant Home.
Yoon Ki-won, chairman of the Korea Social Welfare Association, which operates the two institutions under consignment, and Kang Dae-sung, president, said, "We expect that the living spaces of the children will become cozier and richer through facility improvements and donations of goods," and added, "On behalf of the staff, we express our deep gratitude."
Chief Executive Jinwoo Sunim said, "We organized today's event to strengthen social communication through Buddhism and to practice sharing compassion," and added, "I hope this was a time to convey hope and comfort to the children who will lead the future."
Mayor Kim Dong-geun stated, "I deeply thank Chief Executive Jinwoo Sunim and the senior monks for their visit and encouragement. I also believe that the visit of the movie cast will be a memorable gift for the children in care," and added, "We will strive to continue the meaning of Buddha's compassionate and warm sharing."
