Implementation of Safety Inspections for Public Sewage Systems Including Environmental Basic Facilities
Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 11th that it will conduct safety inspections of public sewage systems, including environmental basic facilities, until the end of February next year to ensure that residents can spend the winter season with peace of mind.
During this inspection, measures to prevent freezing of major facilities, verification of normal operation of equipment against cold waves, and winter safety management status according to the Industrial Safety and Health Act will be focused on to prevent safety accidents and water quality incidents that may occur in winter.
In addition, the Waterworks Office plans to operate a comprehensive situation room during the winter season in cooperation with environmental basic facility management agencies, private investment project (BTL) operators, and local maintenance partner companies to respond promptly to emergency civil complaints.
Park Gil-go, head of the Waterworks Office, stated, “Clogging of sewage pipes in winter can lead to backflow damage or safety accidents caused by freezing of water overflowing onto roads. We ask households and restaurants to filter out oil, food waste, and wet wipes before disposal.” He added, “The Waterworks Office will do its best to ensure safe management of public sewage systems for stable sewage treatment during the winter season.”
