"Development of Education and Experience Programs... Increasing Residents' Income"
The representative exploration program of Ungok Ramsar Wetland in Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, called ‘Ogammanjok Donghaeng’ (Five Senses Satisfaction Companion), has received certification for the Environmental Product Declaration from the Ministry of Environment.
According to the county on the 11th, the Environmental Product Declaration quantitatively indicates the environmental impacts (performance) of all processes including raw material extraction, production, transportation and distribution, use, and disposal of products and services, providing consumers with environmental impact information.
In particular, it includes environmental performance across seven impact categories: carbon footprint, resource footprint, ozone layer impact, acid rain, eutrophication, photochemical smog, and water footprint.
The ‘Ogammanjok Donghaeng’ program at Ungok Ramsar Wetland is an ecological exploration program operated by the Gochang-gun Ecotourism Residents’ Social Cooperative, a residents’ council of Ungok Wetland Village.
This program allows participants to explore Ungok Wetland and surrounding villages with an ecological interpreter, experiencing both wetland ecology and village culture simultaneously. It was initiated to promote the wetland and raise awareness of wetland conservation.
The county operates various eco-friendly experience programs utilizing ecotourism resources such as firefly ecological experiences, natural material play, Ungok Wetland tea tasting, and Nordic walking.
Previously, in 2019, the county received Environmental Product Declaration certification for the ecological tourism program ‘Nueodi Experience,’ further enhancing the brand value of the clean region through low-carbon, nature-friendly experiences.
A county official stated, “We will continue to strive to promote the value of wetlands and expand income opportunities for local residents through the development of eco-friendly education and experience programs.”
