On the 11th, S-Oil announced that it donated a total of 57.48 million KRW collected through the ‘S-Oil Bonus Points’ donations made by customers throughout the year to the Community Chest of Korea, also known as Sarangui Yeolmae. The donation will be used to support the independence of youths leaving childcare facilities.
The donation ceremony took place at the Sarangui Yeolmae Hall in Jeong-dong, Seoul, with representatives from both S-Oil and Sarangui Yeolmae in attendance. The donated amount was raised by combining 28.74 million KRW worth of bonus points accumulated by approximately 11,400 S-Oil membership customers through fuel and charging payments, with an equal contribution and additional donations from S-Oil.
Last year, S-Oil revamped its bonus card system, offering VIP and higher-tier customers the largest fuel company benefit of 4 KRW per liter in points, expanded the Sarangui Yeolmae bonus card benefits (increasing donations from 2 KRW to 3 KRW per liter), and improved the process to allow point donations via the MY S-Oil application and notification messages. As a result, the donation amount significantly increased again this year following last year.
Since 2005, S-Oil has been running a point donation campaign where points accumulated from fueling at its gas stations using the ‘Sarangui Yeolmae Bonus Card’ are donated to help neighbors in need. Over the past 20 years, the total donations have reached approximately 640 million KRW. About 80,000 customers donated points worth around 320 million KRW, matched by an equal amount from S-Oil. The funds raised together with customers will be used to support the independence of youths leaving childcare facilities upon turning 18 years old.
