The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province is making all-out efforts to respond to winter disasters such as heavy snowfall, fires, and cold waves.
On the 11th, Suwon City announced that it has completed inspections of vulnerable facilities such as structures susceptible to snow accumulation, areas prone to avalanches, and cold wave shelters to prevent heavy snowfall and cold waves, and has established an immediate emergency duty system for real-time response to heavy snowfall and cold waves.
Suwon City will operate the "Snow Removal Countermeasures Headquarters" and the "Cold Wave Response Joint TF Team" until March 15 of next year.
In addition, reflecting the characteristics of each region and road, the city has designated major work routes and snow removal sections, and will promptly carry out snow removal using snow removal forward bases and automatic snow and ice removal systems. When a disaster alert is issued, the city plans to inform vulnerable groups of the disaster situation and response guidelines using KakaoTalk and other means.
Furthermore, to prevent winter fires and facility-related accidents, safety inspections will be conducted on vulnerable facilities such as retaining walls, D-grade safety vulnerable facilities, aging apartment complexes, high-rise lodging facilities, elderly care facilities, and traditional markets until January 24 of next year.
The main inspection items include ▲ installation and operation of fire-fighting equipment ▲ grounding of electrical machinery and devices and operation of leakage circuit breakers ▲ proper storage of gas containers ▲ evacuation plans in case of emergency situations.
