Former Professional Soccer Player Lim Min-hyeok Criticizes Assemblyman Jo Jeong-hoon
Former professional soccer player Lim Min-hyeok (30), who retired last March, described his friendship with People Power Party lawmaker Cho Jung-hoon as a "disgrace of his life." This appears to be due to his deep disappointment after Cho abstained from voting on the impeachment motion against President Yoon Seok-yeol.
On the 9th, Lim Min-hyeok criticized on his Instagram, saying, "The brief moment when I ate and talked with you, Cho Jung-hoon, was a disgrace, an insult, and a shame in my life."
He added, "Having a friendship with someone who, without conviction, sympathizes with rebellion for power is a disgrace in my life," and said, "I may not have lived proudly, but at least I did not live shamefully." Lim also targeted Cho, saying, "Thinking like that is how you become vested interests and elites," and declared, "I will withdraw my support for you."
Meanwhile, Lim Min-hyeok also requested a correction to the information listed on the knowledge information site 'Namuwiki.' Namuwiki had stated that Lim was presumed to have a close relationship with People Power Party lawmaker Cho Jung-hoon, including dining together and visiting the National Assembly office. Regarding this, he said, "This is part of my Namuwiki entry. If anyone knows how to edit Namuwiki, please delete that part."
Earlier, on the 7th, Cho abstained from voting on President Yoon's impeachment motion in line with the party's stance of opposing the impeachment and abstaining from the vote. After the impeachment motion was automatically dismissed due to insufficient votes, criticism and protests against People Power Party lawmakers continued. In particular, a condolence wreath criticizing Cho's abstention from the impeachment vote was delivered in front of his office located in Mapo-gu, Seoul. The wreath bore the phrase, "Recorded forever as a collaborator in rebellion."
Meanwhile, Lim Min-hyeok, who was a goalkeeper for the professional soccer K League 2 team Cheonan City FC, did not receive much attention during his active career but became a topic of discussion for his moving retirement speech. In March, he said on Instagram, "When you reach around thirty, you roughly understand that there are things in the world that you desperately want but cannot achieve," adding, "Not giving up and ultimately achieving something is admirable, but since being admirable is not the only answer to life, I leave without any regrets."
He continued, "My soccer career was neither perfect, great, nor very excellent, but I am fully satisfied with the fact that I lived with pride in my life, breathing alongside wonderful people in a world where those who work hard and sincerely are respected."
