4:30 PM on the 11th at Lotte Hotel Busan, Sharing Results of the '5UP Startup Support Project by Growth Stage'
Busan City, together with the Busan Economic Promotion Agency (Director Song Bok-cheol), will hold the ‘2024 Busan City Startup Support Project Performance Report Meeting’ at 4:30 PM on the 11th at Lotte Hotel Busan.
This performance report meeting was organized to share the major achievements of this year’s representative city startup support project, the ‘5 UP Startup Support Project by Growth Stage,’ and to encourage the efforts of startup companies.
The 5 UP by growth stage refers to Pre-startup (SET-UP) → Early startup (BUILD-UP) → Startup growth (SCALE-UP) → Re-startup (RESTART-UP) → Expansion (BOOM-UP).
The event is hosted by the city and organized by the Busan Economic Promotion Agency.
At the performance report meeting, over 100 representatives from companies participating in startup support projects such as ‘Technology Startup Incubating’ and ‘Busan Startup Leap Package’ will attend. The agenda includes ▲performance reports ▲awards ceremony for meritorious persons (3 people) ▲presentations of outstanding company achievements (2 companies) ▲networking.
The award recipients were selected from among the representatives of excellent startup companies that contributed to revitalizing the local startup ecosystem among participating companies. The honors will be awarded to ▲Jung Yong-hee, CEO of Linkup ▲Byun Hee-jun, CEO of Bark ▲Kim Yoon-seok, CEO of GopherSoft.
Among the award-winning companies, Linkup and GopherSoft will present excellent cases of project implementation.
The ‘5 UP Startup Support Project by Growth Stage’ is a customized support project for nurturing and supporting the growth of technology startup companies in stages (pre-startup, early, growth, re-startup, expansion).
Among them, the ‘Technology Startup Incubating’ support project has been a representative city startup support project since 2010, driving the growth of local technology-based pre-startup and early startup companies. Over the past five years, it has discovered 448 pre-startup and early startup companies and created over 1,300 jobs, continuously producing results.
This year, the city selected 60 companies as the 16th batch of ‘Technology Startup Incubating’ support targets and provided comprehensive support including ▲basic corporate capability diagnosis ▲residence space ▲basic education and customized consulting ▲commercialization funds ▲commercialization capability enhancement.
Additionally, the city newly launched the ‘Busan Startup Leap Package’ project this year, discovering 20 leap-stage startup companies and supporting their expansion (scale-up) through a systematic growth track including ▲investment attraction capability enhancement ▲technology advancement ▲global expansion support.
Nam Dong-woo, Director of Financial Startup Policy at the city, said, “I am pleased to have a place to directly communicate with companies that have grown through our city’s startup support projects this year.” He added, “Next year, with the full launch of the ‘Busan Technology Startup Investment Foundation,’ the region’s first dedicated startup institution, we will do our best to prepare more substantial policies so that Busan startup companies can steadily grow and settle based on the region.”
