Implementation of Fine Dust Reduction Measures in Four Areas (Transport, Heating, Workplaces, Exposure Reduction) by March Next Year
Guro-gu will implement the "6th Seasonal Fine Dust Management Plan" for four months from December this year to March next year.
The Seasonal Fine Dust Management Plan is a focused management strategy aimed at reducing the frequency and intensity of high-concentration fine dust occurrences by enforcing strengthened fine dust reduction measures during periods when high concentrations of fine dust occur due to weather conditions, external fine dust inflow, and winter heating usage.
To promote the Seasonal Fine Dust Management Plan, the district has prepared measures in four areas: transportation, heating, workplaces, and exposure reduction.
Key projects by sector include, in the transportation sector, △restriction on operation of vehicles with emission grade 5 △crackdown on vehicle emissions and idling △inspection of private vehicle inspection centers △reduction of traffic volume through linkage and utilization of odd-even license plate driving restrictions and traffic inducement charges for passenger cars.
In the heating sector, compliance with appropriate heating temperatures will be checked at eight large buildings (energy-intensive buildings) in the district. In the workplace sector, 113 air pollutant-emitting workplaces and 52 construction sites and other dust-generating workplaces will be intensively managed.
Additionally, in the exposure reduction sector, more than four cleanings per day will be conducted on three major arterial and general roads with heavy traffic and floating populations (Gyeongin-ro, Gurojungang-ro, and parts of Seohaean-ro), and special indoor air quality inspections will be carried out at 29 multi-use facilities vulnerable to fine dust, such as underground stations and daycare centers.
A Guro-gu official stated, “We will do our best to reduce the occurrence of high-concentration fine dust and improve air quality through fine dust reduction measures,” and added, “We ask for the active participation and cooperation of residents.”
