Recognized for Achievements at NEW Including 'Descendants of the Sun'

Producers Jang Siwon and Lee Myungwoo Receive Presidential Citation
Jang Kyung-ik, CEO of Studio Dragon, which produced Disney+’s 'Moving,' will receive the Cultural Medal.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency will hold the 'Korea Content Awards Ceremony' on the 11th at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Government awards and certificates will be presented to those who contributed to the development of the content industry and outstanding content this year.
CEO Jang will receive the Cultural Medal in recognition of his achievements while serving as CEO of NEW and Studio&New until May. Working in the drama production field, he has produced numerous works that combine artistic quality and popularity, including 'Descendants of the Sun,' 'Doctor Cha Jeong-suk,' and 'Moving.' In particular, 'Moving' emerged as a major hit on Disney+ last year, presenting the potential of a Korean-style hero series. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism added, "He greatly contributed to promoting the excellence of K-content worldwide and the development of the broadcasting and video industry."
The Presidential Citation will be awarded to Bae Ki-sik, CEO of Ridibooks; Park Yong-hyun, CEO of Nexon Games; Jang Si-won, producer at Studio C1; Lee Myung-woo, producer at The Studio M; Choi Ji-won, general director at Neowiz; and Kim Kwan-woo, player of Seongnam Spirit Zero.
CEO Bae led the global webtoon subscription service 'Manta' to become the No. 1 comic application on the U.S. Google Play Store. He played a leading role in enhancing the global competitiveness of K-webtoons, achieving a cumulative global view count of 150 million with 'Under the Oak Tree.'
CEO Park founded NetGames (now Nexon Games) in 2013. He led the development of games such as 'Blue Archive,' 'HIT,' and 'V4,' contributing to the growth of the gaming industry and the expansion of Korean games in overseas markets.
Producer Jang planned and directed JTBC’s 'Strongest Baseball.' By re-examining the fighting spirit of retired and amateur baseball players, he led a sports entertainment program phenomenon.
Producer Lee created Coupang Play’s 'Boyhood.' He captured both artistic quality and popularity by skillfully portraying unique themes with solid directing skills. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism explained, "He contributed to diversifying the genres of domestic OTT dramas."
Director Choi is the developer of the console game 'P’s Lie,' which surpassed 7 million users this year. He contributed to the development of the gaming industry by presenting a new direction called 'console' to the domestic game industry.
Player Kim has been active in the fighting game genre for 20 years. He consistently achieved excellent results in international competitions, including winning the gold medal in Street Fighter V at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
The Prime Minister’s Citation will be awarded to six people: Moon Seok-hwan, CEO of Bon Factory, who produced dramas such as 'Carrying Seon-jae and Running Away' and 'Mask Girl'; Han Sung-soo, CEO of Pledis Entertainment, who produced albums for Seventeen and After School; Lee Hyo-young, CEO of Young & Content, who handles overseas distribution of K-content; Im Hyun-wook, producer at SLL Jungang, who directed the drama 'King the Land'; Kim Ji-eun, a writer who developed 'Immortal Songs' into a representative music entertainment program; and Nam Soo-jin, a writer who wrote the '6 O’clock My Hometown, 8000th Episode Special.'
The Presidential Award in the comics category goes to 'Yulgang,' which celebrates its 30th anniversary of serialization this year. In the animation category, 'Yumi’s Cells The Movie,' and in the character category, 'Bebepin' stand shoulder to shoulder.
