Passed away last September, cause of death unknown
The news of the death of weathercaster Oh Yoanna (28) was belatedly reported. She was 28 years old.
According to MBC on the 10th, Oh Yoanna passed away last September. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
Oh Yoanna had been active as a public recruitment weathercaster at MBC since 2021. The following year, she also appeared on the show You Quiz on the Block.
After the You Quiz broadcast, Oh Yoanna left a comment saying, "I record this moment as a great honor to be able to introduce the profession of weathercaster. As I am lacking, this memory is even more precious. I am truly grateful to the production staff and seniors."
During her appearance on You Quiz, it was also highlighted that she had prepared to become an idol after winning the Hermoso Beauty Award at the 13th JYP Entertainment public audition in 2017. In 2019, she attracted attention with her graceful appearance when she was selected as ‘Suk’ at the 89th Chunhyang Festival Chunhyang Selection Contest.
On September 9, Oh Yoanna posted on her Instagram story that "Due to a facial injury this week, I am unable to do the weather for '930 MBC News'." The medical certificate she shared stated "Fell forward and broke a tooth" and "Fracture in other parts of the facial area," which caused concern among fans.
Her Instagram activity stopped as of September 12. While netizens were wondering about her recent status with comments like "Are you doing well, sister?" "Why haven't you appeared lately?" and "Did you quit being a weathercaster?", the sad news was delivered.
Netizens expressed their sorrow over the belated news of Oh Yoanna’s death. They responded with comments such as "Rest in peace," "Thank you for informing us about the weather so well," "Hope you go to a good place," and "I can't believe it."
