Major foreign media reported on the 10th (local time) that the Israeli military invaded up to 25 km from the capital of Syria.
On the 10th, major foreign media, citing anonymous Syrian sources, reported that the Israeli military occupied a buffer zone in southern Syria and, after airstrikes on Syrian army and air force bases within a day, reached about 25 km southwest of Damascus, the capital of Syria.
According to Syrian sources, the area where the Israeli military arrived is Qatana. Qatana is located east of the demilitarized zone separating the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and Syria, about 10 km from Syrian territory.
The Israeli military stated, "Israel will not get involved in conflicts in Syria, and occupying the buffer zone is a defensive measure."
However, Egypt, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia condemned this invasion. In particular, Saudi Arabia said this action "will ruin the possibility of restoring security in Syria."
Major foreign media, citing Syrian regional security sources and officers within the Syrian army, reported that the Israeli military conducted airstrikes on military facilities and air force bases across Syria, destroying dozens of Syrian army assets including helicopters and jets. The total number of airstrikes is estimated to be around 200.
