Amid the fallout from the '12·3 Emergency Martial Law Incident,' some celebrities have been caught in the crossfire, and DAY6 member Dowoon sparked an unexpected controversy after posting a video of himself playing the drums while wearing a military uniform.
Earlier, Dowoon uploaded a video of himself playing the drums dressed in military attire, which led to criticism from some netizens who said it was "an action insensitive to the current political climate." Although he wore the uniform unintentionally due to overlapping reserve forces training and practice schedules, malicious comments and various rumors speculating about his political stance spread widely online.
As the controversy continued, on the 10th, DAY6's agency JYP Entertainment released an official statement saying, "False information related to DAY6 member Dowoon has been indiscriminately circulated and reproduced recently," and added, "Our company plans to respond strongly to all acts of spreading baseless rumors and malicious defamation against DAY6 and its members."
They further emphasized, "If the indiscriminate dissemination of false information continues, expanding or reproducing rumors and damaging the artist's honor and character, we will take strict legal action." They also stated, "We will make every effort to protect our artists and will proceed with all available legal measures without any leniency or settlement."
The video in question has since been deleted.
