Under the theme ‘Our Shining Time,’ the event was attended by about 100 people, including Mayor Kang Su-hyun, members of the Yangju City Mental Health Welfare Center, their families, and related organization officials.

The event featured various programs aimed at enhancing the mental rehabilitation and independence will, confidence, and positive emotions of registered center members, including ▲2024 member artwork exhibition ▲sharing of center activities ▲screening of video testimonials from peer supporters upon completion ▲awards for outstanding members ▲member performance stage ▲celebration stage ▲recreation, and more.

At the event venue, works created through horticulture, art, and youth programs were exhibited, and a video featuring the theme song of the Yangju City Mental Health Welfare Center, with lyrics written directly by members as part of the music therapy program, attracted the attention of attendees.

In particular, the video testimonials from this year’s trained peer supporters provided an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the center’s activities, according to reports.

During the member performance stage, the event began with a recitation of poet Yun Dong-ju’s ‘Counting the Stars at Night’ by a peer supporter member, followed by a song by a member who is actively working as a singer, a tone chime performance of ‘Over the Rainbow’ by a group of members, a carol medley, and a congratulatory stage by ‘Outsider.’

Additionally, the Workplace and Factory Saemaul Movement Yangju City Council (Chairman Oh Soo-young) conducted meal-serving volunteer activities for the members of the Yangju City Mental Health Welfare Center and other attendees, making the event even more meaningful and warm.

Oh Sang-hoon, director of the Yangju City Mental Health Welfare Center, said, “We are grateful for the interest and support given to the Yangju City Mental Health Welfare Center, which strives to improve mental health in the local community throughout this year,” adding, “We will continue to operate various programs that help rehabilitate people with mental illnesses and restore the mental health of citizens.”

Mayor Kang Su-hyun stated, “The interest and actions of each center member, family, and staff have broadened awareness of mental health and created significant changes,” and added, “Yangju City will continue to make efforts and provide necessary support for the mental health of Yangju citizens.”

Meanwhile, any citizen registered in the district who is experiencing mental health difficulties can receive counseling and mental health services at the Yangju City Mental Health Welfare Center and participate in rehabilitation programs.
