Gyeonggi Province received the Republic of Korea Human Rights Award 'Institutional Commendation.'
On the 10th, Gyeonggi Province was awarded an institutional commendation for its contribution to the protection and enhancement of human rights in the Republic of Korea at the '76th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights 2024 Human Rights Day' ceremony held at the Korea Press Center International Conference Hall in Sogong-dong, Seoul, hosted by the National Human Rights Commission of Korea.
The Republic of Korea Human Rights Award is presented annually by the National Human Rights Commission of Korea on the occasion of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Day (December 10) to honor the passion and efforts of organizations and individuals dedicated to improving human rights in our society and to contribute to the spread of a culture of respect for human rights.

Gyeonggi Province was recognized for presenting a model human rights administration in response to the Seongam Academy child human rights violation case, expanding the institutional foundation of human rights administration and strengthening human rights capabilities in the public sector, actively promoting preemptive protection of residents' human rights and remedies, and contributing to the improvement of residents' human rights through participatory policy implementation. These efforts were evaluated as exemplary human rights administration models supporting human rights-friendly governance to realize 'a dignified Gyeonggi Province for everyone through human rights and peace.'
Masunheung, Human Rights Officer of Gyeonggi Province, stated that they will continue to "do their best to protect and promote the human rights of each resident through effective human rights policies reflecting Gyeonggi Province's geographical and historical characteristics."
Meanwhile, Governor Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi Province officially apologized in October 2022, pledging to make every effort to support the healing of wounds and restoration of honor for victims regarding the past Seongam Academy child human rights violation case. Accordingly, since last year, consolation payments and monthly living stability support funds have been provided to the victims of the Seongam Academy case, and a victim support center is also operating to provide medical expense support and help heal psychological trauma.
