The ‘AI Check-in Service for Elderly Living Alone’ is a service that, through a business agreement with Korea Electric Power Corporation, analyzes electricity usage and communication data via remote smart meters (AMI) without installing separate devices to understand living patterns. When an abnormal situation is detected, it sends an alert to the responsible public official to check on the individual’s well-being.
According to the county, since the service began in April last year, it has been monitoring 742 people daily and confirmed the well-being of 4,377 cases. Through these checks, the county verifies the status of individuals with detected abnormalities and connects them to customized services such as nursing and care, housing, nutritional meals, health management, and emotional support through consultations. It is also promoting well-being checks for at-risk households through one-on-one or one-to-many matching linked with the Honorary Social Welfare Officer One-Chon-Maekki project.
Jeon Jin-seon, Governor of Yangpyeong-gun, said, “We will build a dense community welfare safety net to solve social issues such as solitary deaths that may arise from the increase of single-person and socially isolated households and to ensure the safety of the elderly.”
