Al Hizaji CEO Appointed Honorary Coast Guard Officer
S-OIL (CEO Anwar Al Hizazi) selected and awarded this year’s hero maritime police officers.
S-OIL announced on the 10th that, together with the Korea National Council on Social Welfare (Chairman Kim Seong-i) and the Korea Coast Guard (Commissioner Kim Jong-wook), it held the ‘2024 Hero Maritime Police Awards Ceremony’ on the 9th at the Mapo Garden Hotel in Seoul.
On this day, plaques and a total prize money of 90 million KRW were awarded to eight hero maritime police officers.

S-OIL presented a plaque and prize money of 20 million KRW to Corporal Han Seung-man (Gunsan Coast Guard Station), who was selected as the ‘Top Hero Maritime Police Officer.’ Additionally, plaques and prize money of 10 million KRW each were given to seven ‘Hero Maritime Police Officers,’ including Police Officer Kwon Oh-min (Boryeong Coast Guard Rescue Unit).
Corporal Han Seung-man, selected as the top hero maritime police officer, responded to a distress call in September near Sipidongpado, Gunsan, where a 35-ton fishing vessel with eight people on board was in trouble. During the first underwater search, he rescued one crew member from the crew quarters, and in the second underwater search, he discovered and rescued three additional crew members trapped inside the capsized vessel.
On this day, S-OIL CEO Anwar Al Hizazi was appointed as an honorary maritime police officer in recognition of his contributions through the Coast Guard Hero Keeper campaign, which implements various support programs for the maritime police.
CEO Anwar Al Hizazi said, “I am pleased to be appointed as an honorary maritime police officer in recognition of my continuous contributions to the maritime police,” and added, “S-OIL will continue to show unwavering interest and support for the maritime police.”
S-OIL signed the ‘Coast Guard Hero Keeper’ agreement in 2013 with the Korea Coast Guard and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare to encourage and boost the morale of maritime police officers who dedicate themselves on the front lines to protect South Korea’s maritime territory and the lives and property of its citizens, including rescuing distressed vessels, preventing marine pollution, and cracking down on illegal fishing vessels.
S-OIL has continuously supported activities such as providing scholarships for children of fallen maritime police officers, medical expense support for injured maritime police officers, rest camps for maritime police couples, and awarding hero maritime police officers.
