Gongju City in Chungnam Province announced on the 10th that it was selected as the only city in Chungnam to be named an excellent local government for two consecutive years in the '2024 Child Policy Impact Assessment' organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
The Child Policy Impact Assessment is a system in which local governments evaluate the positive and negative impacts of various laws, plans, and projects, both directly and indirectly related to children, on children and their rights.
This year, the city thoroughly conducted its own assessment of nine projects and one law/regulation related to children, and was recognized for implementing child-friendly administration from the perspective of children's rights, including accepting suggestions for improvement from children.
Mayor Choi Woncheol said, "I am pleased that Gongju City's child policy received a positive evaluation in this assessment, which allowed us to review whether our policies are effectively ensuring children's rights," and added, "We will do our best to create an environment where the rights of all children are fully respected."
