Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun: "Hwanggujicheon Public Sewage Treatment Facility to be Completed as Scheduled"

On the 9th, Lee Jae-jun, Mayor of Suwon City, opened an on-site mayor's office at the ‘Hwanggujicheon Public Sewage Treatment Facility Project’ site, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year, and explained the project status to the residents.


The Hwanggujicheon Public Sewage Treatment Facility Project is based on the ‘Basic Sewerage Maintenance Plan’ and aims to secure the capacity to purify domestic sewage generated in the upper stream section of Hwanggujicheon to meet the discharge water quality standards. The project started in April 2020 and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.


Mayor Lee Jae-jun said, "Hold a residents' briefing session to guide the Hwanggujicheon Public Sewage Treatment Facility Project, explain the project details thoroughly to the residents, and collect their opinions," adding, "We will operate the upper sports and convenience facilities for one year, and if any points for improvement are found, we will actively make improvements."

The Hwanggujicheon Public Sewage Treatment Facility, built on lot 205 in Homaesil-dong, Gwonseon-gu, covers an area of 77,705㎡ and has a daily treatment capacity of 45,000 tons. It applies the membrane separation method, which filters water similarly to a water purifier filter.


The current progress rate is 99.9%, and after the completion of the facility construction, comprehensive trial operations are being conducted while monitoring water quality.


The upper sports and convenience facility construction project of the Hwanggujicheon Public Sewage Treatment Facility involves creating a soccer field, baseball field, water play area, walking trail, lawn plaza, and management building on top of the public sewage treatment facility. Construction started in February 2024 and is expected to be completed in January next year. The current progress rate is 97%.
