"Impact Analysis to Expand Across SK Ulsan CLX"
SK Energy has added various colors to the 'gray' factory. The purpose is to prevent safety accidents in advance by applying design and color not only to the factory exterior but also to on-site hazard factors.
On the 10th, SK Energy announced that it is promoting the 'Catch Industrial Accidents with Color' campaign together with the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency and the Korea Color Universal Design Association. This campaign is an activity to improve the working environment by identifying hazards in industrial sites and applying design and color to key facilities such as hazard zones, safety zones, and emergency exits so that anyone can easily recognize them. Several domestic companies have already introduced this and proven its effectiveness.
Accordingly, SK Ulsan CLX, SK Energy's representative production site, gathered opinions from on-site members and developed customized designs applicable through expert on-site diagnosis since last September, and from November, safety designs were first applied to the power plant.
The SK Ulsan CLX power plant produces and supplies steam necessary for the operation of refining and petrochemical plants. It operates under high temperature and high pressure and has many structures such as pipelines, making it an ideal place to apply safety design. SK Ulsan CLX first applied safety design to member walkways, evacuation routes, stairs, and curbs within the power plant.
An SK Energy official said, "Member safety is the top priority at SK Ulsan CLX, which has a site area of 2.5 million pyeong and about 100 large and small factories," adding, "We plan to analyze the impact of the installed safety design and expand it to the entire SK Ulsan CLX to build a sustainable safety culture."
After the safety design was actually applied, the company reported that positive feedback such as "Hazard factors are identified at a glance," "Safety gear is worn automatically," and "The factory, which used to feel dark, now looks bright and good" has been coming from the site.
A representative from the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency said, "Preventing safety accidents is an important task directly related to workers' lives," and added, "Through this campaign, we will widely promote the importance of improving the working environment and create an environment where workers can work with peace of mind."
