The 'Village Community Support Project' aims to restore the sense of village community by having residents themselves identify and solve local problems, and to realize resident autonomy through continuous community activities.

Any Wonju citizen interested in the village community project can participate, and through this briefing session, plans are in place to promote excellent project cases, provide guidance on writing project proposals, and address questions about the project.

The application period is from December 20 to January 3 of next year. Eligibility requires that, as of the start date of the public announcement, the community must be a new village community with at least five members residing in the same eup, myeon, or dong for more than six months, and these members must constitute at least 60% of the total community. After screening, up to 16 communities will be selected and provided with project funding of up to 5 million KRW.

The village community project covers four areas: ▲Safe Environment (communities that make the village safe and healthy) ▲Cultural Exchange (communities that cultivate culture through mutual exchange) ▲Communication and Care (communities that care for their surroundings together) ▲Village Media (communities that revitalize the village using media).

In particular, in 2025, the village media recruitment area will be expanded to further strengthen local communication by supporting activities such as enhancing capabilities in village newspaper and video production.

Applications can be submitted by downloading the project application form from the Wonju City website (announcement section) and submitting it in person or by mail to the administrative welfare center of the eup, myeon, or dong where the activity area is located.

An official from Wonju City stated, “The village community project is an important initiative where residents directly propose and participate in solving village issues, and we hope that through this project, communication within village communities will be strengthened, community spirit restored, and resident autonomy further developed.”
