"Treacherous Traitor Yoon Seok-yeol, Arrest and Impeach Immediately"

Gwangju Citizens Hold Daily 'Regime Resignation' Rallies
Call for Yoon's Impeachment and Dissolution of People Power Party at 5·18 Democracy Square
Gwangju Emergency Action to Continue Protests Until the 13th

"Treacherous Traitor Yoon Seok-yeol, Arrest and Impeach Immediately" On the evening of the 9th at 7 PM, at the 5·18 Democracy Square in Dong-gu, Gwangju, citizens raised placards and shouted "Immediate arrest and impeachment of the traitor Yoon Seok-yeol" during the "Citizens' Rally Demanding the Impeachment and Detention of Yoon Seok-yeol and the Dissolution of the People Power Party."

Gwangju citizens' prayer meetings demanding the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol and investigation of charges of insurrection continue day after day.

The "Gwangju Emergency Action for the Resignation of the Yoon Seok-yeol Regime" (hereinafter Gwangju Emergency Action) held a "Citizen Prayer Meeting Urging the Impeachment and Arrest of Yoon Seok-yeol and the Dissolution of the People Power Party" at 7 p.m. on the 9th at the 5·18 Democracy Square in Dong-gu, with about 500 citizens participating.

Since the impeachment motion vote against President Yoon was aborted on the 7th at the National Assembly due to the mass walkout of People Power Party lawmakers, Gwangju Emergency Action has been holding daily general rallies. The Gwangju citizens' prayer meetings are scheduled to continue until the 13th, a day before the second vote on the impeachment motion at the National Assembly.

The citizens called for the impeachment of President Yoon, who carried out the "emergency martial law situation," and an unreserved investigation, condemning the People Power Party for not participating in the impeachment vote.

Attending citizens shouted slogans such as "Impeach Yoon Seok-yeol" and "Dissolve the People Power Party," singing popular songs with altered lyrics loudly.

Na Gyu-bok, the standing representative of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Candlelight Action, emphasized, "We must make People Power Party lawmakers support the impeachment."

Kim Sang-jun (55), who participated in the event that day, said, "I couldn't attend last Saturday's event, so I came out today," adding, "Yoon Seok-yeol will eventually be impeached and step down. We will make sure that happens."

Moon Young-sun (49, female) pointed out, "The public address by Han Dong-hoon and Han Duck-soo calling for an 'orderly resignation' is just a trick to extend the Yoon Seok-yeol regime," adding, "This is an act that ignores the people who are boiling with anger watching the unconstitutional and illegal emergency martial law situation."

Han Jin-seok (65) criticized, "The impeachment motion against Yoon Seok-yeol should have passed in the previous National Assembly vote, but it was ultimately aborted because of People Power Party lawmakers," adding, "The People Power Party, which protected the ringleader of insurrection and betrayed public opinion, is no longer a national party. It should be dissolved immediately."

Meanwhile, in Gwangju that day, condemnation rallies and statements from various sectors, including democratic elders, civil society organizations, Gwangju City, Gwangju City Council, five autonomous districts, 5·18 organizations, and religious groups, followed one after another. Through head-shaving ceremonies and press conferences, they strongly urged the impeachment and arrest investigation of President Yoon and the dissolution of the People Power Party.
