Discussion on Urban Railway Safe Operation and Talent Development Plans

Gwangju Transportation Corporation recently held an 'Industry-Academia Cooperation Technology Seminar' at the Dong-gu Yongsan Vehicle Depot, announcing on the 9th that it has embarked on fostering local railway talent and enhancing the urban railway safety operation capabilities of its executives and employees through technological exchange.


At the seminar, more than 30 officials from Gwangju Transportation Corporation and the Department of Railway Operation and Control Systems at Songwon University participated. The event featured presentations on various improvement tasks for safe train operation, including ▲train driving techniques during heavy snowfall in winter ▲passenger safety measures when using the subway ▲ways to improve work efficiency according to the working patterns of train drivers, followed by in-depth discussions.


Since signing an industry-academia cooperation agreement in 2008, the corporation and Songwon University have been making multifaceted efforts for regional development and safe urban railway operation through joint research activities related to the urban railway industry, knowledge and technology exchange via seminars, operation of a railway academy and field experience programs to nurture excellent railway personnel.


President Jo Ik-moon said, “I hope this seminar served as a constructive forum for discussions aimed at providing safe and convenient transportation services to citizens,” adding, “We will continue to lead regional development by having public enterprises and universities in the region join hands.”
