Isu Chemical Accelerates K-Smart Farm Local Business in Australia

Isu Chemical is set to fully launch the K-Smart Farm local project in Australia, led by the Korea Agricultural Technology Promotion Agency (K-ATPA).

On the 10th, Isu Chemical announced that it held a completion ceremony for the smart farm demo greenhouse in Australia, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) and K-ATPA.

In accordance with the ‘Smart Farm Package Export Activation’ project plan hosted by MAFRA and organized by K-ATPA, a 1-hectare smart farm was completed in Ruscombe, located near Brisbane and the Gold Coast in Queensland.

The event was attended by Kim Jong-gu, Director of Agricultural Innovation Policy at MAFRA; Ahn Ho-geun, President of K-ATPA; and representatives from participating Australian companies including Ju Bong-jin, CEO of Isu Chemical; Son Won-dong, CEO of Isu System; Kim Hak-seon, CEO of Hangaram Phonics; and Jo Jin-hyung, CEO of IO Crops. Over 80 officials, including Bert van Manen, Member of the Australian House of Representatives, and Michael Crandon, Member of the Queensland Parliament, participated to inspect the crops being cultivated in the smart farm and tour the smart farm and its internal facilities.

Isu Chemical is the first domestic company to complete a smart farm in Australia. They plan to start producing leafy vegetables for salads, which are in high demand locally, and begin sales from next year.

The Australian smart farm is equipped with the ‘Automated Mobile Bed (MGS)’ developed independently by Isu Chemical and Hangaram Phonics, enabling increased production and more efficient labor management. Isu System’s integrated environmental control solution, ‘Smart Root,’ has been installed to allow real-time remote control of the smart farm environment. Additionally, a monitoring system using IO Crops’ vision sensors has been installed to enable remote checking of crop conditions.

Isu Chemical also signed an MOU with its Australian partner, Earthpix, to cooperate on the second phase of the project, which includes additional smart farm construction of 2 to 3 hectares within Australia.

Ju Bong-jin, CEO of Isu Chemical’s Green Bio Division, stated, “We will prove the excellence of our facilities and operations based on the Australian smart farm, which was completed after overcoming many difficulties,” and added, “In addition to further construction with Earthpix, we will actively expand K-Smart Farm in Australia through additional orders in the Australian market.”
