Foreign investors net sold more than 4 trillion won in the domestic stock market last month, marking the fourth consecutive month of net selling in the domestic stock market. On the other hand, they showed net investment in listed bonds for four consecutive months.


According to the "November 2024 Foreign Securities Investment Trends" announced by the Financial Supervisory Service on the 10th, foreign investors net sold 4.154 trillion won in domestic listed stocks last month. They net sold 4.237 trillion won in the KOSPI market and net bought 83 billion won in the KOSDAQ market.


Foreign investors have recorded net selling for four consecutive months since August. They had maintained a net buying trend for nine consecutive months until July but turned to a selling trend starting in August.


By country, the UK (600 billion won) and Taiwan (200 billion won) showed net buying. The United States (-1.4 trillion won) and Luxembourg (-700 billion won) recorded net selling.


As of the end of last month, the scale of domestic listed stocks held by foreign investors was 693.635 trillion won (27.4% of market capitalization), falling below 700 trillion won.


In the bond market, net investment was recorded for four consecutive months. Foreign investors net bought 3.259 trillion won in listed bonds and received 1.772 trillion won in maturity repayments.


In November, they made net investments in government bonds (300 billion won) and net redemptions in Monetary Stabilization Bonds (1.1 trillion won). As of November, the scale of foreign investors' government bond holdings was the highest at 242 trillion won (89.6%), followed by special bonds at 27.9 trillion won (10.3%).


The balance of listed bonds held by foreign investors was recorded at 270.016 trillion won (10.4% of the listed bond balance).
