Daegu Dalseo-gu Awards 'Proud Resident Award' to Kim Chaseop and Seo Samsu

Two Honorary Dalseo-gu Residents Selected

Daegu Dalseo-gu (District Mayor Lee Tae-hoon) selected two recipients of the ‘Proud Resident Award’ and two ‘Honorary Residents’ on the 9th for their contributions to district administration and community development.


Dalseo-gu annually discovers exemplary residents and foreigners who have dedicated themselves to the development of district administration and the local community in various fields and awards them the ‘Proud Resident Award’ and ‘Honorary Resident Certificate.’

Since 1989, 100 individuals have been honored with the Dalseo-gu Proud Resident Award, and since its inception in 2021, four people have received the Honorary Resident Certificate.


The awardees selected as Proud Residents and Honorary Residents this year will be honored at the Residents’ Day commemorative event held at Cheongryong Hall in the Dalseo Art Center on the 23rd.


The Proud Resident Award recipients by category are Kim Cha-seop, Chairman of the Daegu City Hall Restoration Promotion Committee, for regional economic and social development, and Seo Sam-su, Chairman of the Dalseo-gu Women’s Association Council, for social service and sharing practice. The Honorary Residents selected are Mr. An Seong-jun (Head of EcoPro EM Co., Ltd.) and Ms. Cho Ji-wa (Employee of Unipoly Co., Ltd.).


Mr. Kim Cha-seop, as chairman of the City Hall Restoration Promotion Committee, actively led public awareness campaigns with a strong sense of responsibility and mission, playing a key role in ensuring the Daegu City Hall construction proceeded as originally planned. He contributed to revitalizing traditional markets as the former president of the Seonam New Market Merchants Association and worked to promote resident autonomy and harmony as the former president of the District Residents’ Autonomy Committee Federation.


Seo Sam-su, in the social service and sharing practice category, is the chairman of the Dalseo-gu Women’s Association Council and the Women’s Division of the Seongseo Regional Development Association. As a local female leader, she collaborated with the district office to promote events such as the Dalseo Family Festival, Gender Equality Week, Waryong Dano Festival, and New Year’s Rice Cake Soup Sharing Event, contributing to district development and the creation of a gender-equal society. She has been a role model through 19 years of various volunteer activities.


Honorary Resident An Seong-jun, a citizen of Pohang, has lived in Dalseo-gu since his university days and contributed to youth policy advisory roles and the enhancement of youth rights through activities such as the Cheongcheong Planning Group and the Marriage Promotion Council. He serves as a model for youth social activities by engaging in diverse volunteer work, including overseas service in Sri Lanka through Keimyung University.


Ms. Cho Ji-wa, a Cambodian national, is a foreign worker who has been diligently working at Unipoly Co., Ltd. in Wolam-dong, Dalseo-gu since 2015. She acts as a communication channel between foreign workers and employers and contributes to the stable settlement of foreign residents by working as a daily interpreter and counselor at the Daegu Foreign Workers Support Center.


Lee Tae-hoon, Mayor of Dalseo-gu, said, “I sincerely congratulate and thank the awardees who have devoted themselves with exceptional responsibility to regional development and harmony. We will continue to discover unsung heroes and strive to bring hope to our residents.”
