Promotion of Public Transportation Fare Support Project to Ensure Mobility Rights for the Elderly

Guri City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun) announced on the 9th that on the 6th, a business agreement ceremony was held in the situation room on the 3rd floor of City Hall to promote the support project for public transportation expenses for the elderly in cooperation with Nonghyup.

The ceremony was attended by five people including Baek Kyung-hyun, Mayor of Guri, Hong Jun-gi, Head of Nonghyup Bank Guri Branch, Kim Yoo-cheol, Executive Director of Guri Nonghyup Cooperative, and Park Chi-sik, Executive Director of Namyangju Livestock Cooperative. The agreement included a promise for mutual cooperation in carrying out the project by establishing roles for both organizations and an organic cooperation system to successfully promote the support project for public transportation expenses for the elderly.


The support project for public transportation expenses for the elderly targets seniors aged 65 and older residing in Guri City, providing quarterly support for transportation expenses used from April. Nonghyup will begin issuing cards starting from the first half of next year.


Baek Kyung-hyun, Mayor of Guri City, stated, “Through the promotion of this project, we expect to help reduce the transportation cost burden, thereby enhancing transportation welfare and mobility rights for the elderly.” He added, “We will continue to make greater efforts to promote senior welfare and public transportation policies that improve the mobility rights and quality of life for the elderly.”
