Hanam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) announced on the 9th that it was finally selected as the top group in the "2024 General Waterworks Operation and Management Inspection Evaluation" hosted by the Ministry of Environment.

The Ministry of Environment evaluates the operation and management status of general waterworks nationwide every year and publishes the results to improve the quality of water services, establish a competitive water supply system, and enhance operational management efficiency.
According to the evaluation results announced by the Ministry of Environment, Hanam City was selected as the top group (Grade A) among 35 cities and counties in the evaluation group with a water supply population of over 200,000.
The general waterworks operation and management evaluation assesses a total of 29 items in three areas?▲general waterworks field ▲waterworks operation and management field ▲waterworks policy field?along with other additional or deducted factors, targeting 161 local governments operating general waterworks and seven zones of the Korea Water Resources Corporation.
The evaluation is conducted in two stages: the first stage includes basic and on-site evaluations, and the second stage is a presentation evaluation. Based on the 2023 results, the second evaluation was conducted for the top 20% of cities and counties in the first evaluation, and from 2024, the criteria have been strengthened to include the top 10% for the second evaluation.
Hanam City ranked in the top 10% overall in the first evaluation, participated in the second presentation evaluation, and was finally evaluated as the top group. In particular, it received high scores in ▲operation and management of water purification facilities ▲technical diagnosis and improvement performance of water supply networks ▲compliance with water quality standards and management fields.
Mayor Lee Hyun-jae of Hanam City expressed his ambition, saying, "We will do our best to continuously maintain and develop the excellent water purification production and supply capacity proven through this evaluation, and to integrate the ongoing advanced projects well to supply cleaner and safer tap water to our citizens."
