Buyeo-gun Selected as an Excellent City/County for Carbon Neutrality Practices in Chungnam Province

Achievements Including Enactment of Basic Ordinance on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth... Secured 300 Million Won in Incentives

Buyeo County announced on the 9th that it has been selected as an outstanding city/county for the expansion of carbon neutrality practices in Chungnam Province, securing an incentive of 300 million KRW.

According to the county, the province evaluated the environmental policy implementation of 15 cities and counties, including carbon neutrality, air quality, resource recycling, and water management, from January to September. Buyeo County ranked third, following Hongseong County and Nonsan City.

So far, the county has established various measures to respond to the climate crisis, including the enactment of the Basic Ordinance on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth, the formation and operation of the Carbon Neutrality Green Growth Committee, mandatory environmental education for public officials, and the establishment of basic plans through resident briefings.

Additionally, the county has focused on expanding and implementing carbon neutrality in daily life through public-private cooperation, such as hosting the "Again Green! Carbon Neutrality Festival," providing carbon neutrality consulting and promotion at the Seodong Lotus Festival and Baekje Cultural Festival.

In particular, the county received high marks for increasing the number of households participating in the Carbon Neutrality Points (energy sector) program, implementing the seasonal fine dust management system, providing environmental education for residents using puppet shows, supporting the rental of reusable containers for small events, eradicating single-use products at government offices and health centers, and installing reusable cup washers.

Park Junghyun, the county governor, stated, "This achievement is the result of our proactive efforts to practice and spread carbon neutrality in order to reduce greenhouse gases, the main cause of the climate crisis. Since the interest and participation of residents are most important for carbon neutrality, we will continue to promote various practical carbon neutrality policies in daily life together with the residents."
