Card-Type Car Keys to Be Used in Santa Fe, Tucson, and Grandeur Models

Thickness of Two Credit Cards... Remote Parking and Exit Features Included

Hyundai Mobis will provide the card-type car key applied to the Ioniq 5N to major Hyundai Motor models such as the Santa Fe, Tucson, and Grandeur.

Hyundai Mobis announced on the 9th that it will expand sales of the card-type smart key. The thickness of the card-type smart key is 2.5mm, about the thickness of two credit cards. It can be used not only to open and close car doors and the trunk but also to start the engine in advance. It also supports Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA), which allows parking and exiting using sensors. The button operation range is over 30 meters.

Hyundai Mobis applied Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology to the card-type smart key. Unlike Near Field Communication (NFC), which requires direct contact, the card key does not need to be taken out every time. It has a built-in lithium-ion battery and can be wirelessly charged like a smartphone when placed next to the driver's seat.

Since its first introduction in the Ioniq 5N model earlier this year, it has been expanded and sold for major models. After purchasing on the Hyundai Shop website, it can be used after security authentication at a nearby Blue Hands service center. The price is 129,000 KRW. To commemorate the launch, an additional 10,000 KRW discount is being offered. For large-scale corporate vehicle customers who purchase as a 'fleet,' a service to imprint the company logo and desired text will be provided.

A Hyundai Mobis official said, "The card-type smart key has received considerable positive response overseas, and in the Middle East region, it is provided as a standard with new car launches for some models," adding, "We plan to expand sales to the North American region next year."
