Krafton Establishes 'Tango Gameworks' Corporation... Full-Scale Entry into Japanese Market

Krafton has established a corporation in Japan centered around the Tango Gameworks personnel it recruited last August. The plan is to use this as a base to actively target Japan, one of the world's top three gaming markets.

According to Krafton on the 8th, the Japanese corporation was built based on the Japanese developer Tango Gameworks personnel recruited last August. The CEO is Thomas Colin Mack, a North American gaming industry veteran who previously worked at Bethesda Softworks. The Tango Gameworks name will be retained to maintain its existing heritage.

Currently, Tango Gameworks operates with about 50 to 60 employees, and Krafton plans to expand the organization through continuous hiring.

Krafton's establishment of a Japanese corporation is part of a strategy to strengthen its position as a global game company. Japan is one of the world's top three gaming markets. It is regarded as an important market due to its high consumer spending and unique gaming culture. In particular, Japanese gamers prefer innovative and distinctive gaming experiences, which aligns with Krafton's IP (intellectual property) expansion strategy.

A Krafton representative said, "The Japanese market is not only about simple sales growth but also a strategic foothold where we can expand a creative game development environment and global network. The establishment of this corporation will strengthen Krafton's position in the Japanese market and contribute to providing more diverse experiences to global gamers."

Tango Gameworks was previously operated as a studio under Microsoft (MS) and has built a reputation in the global gaming market with titles such as the rhythm action game Hi-Fi Rush, survival horror The Evil Within, and action-adventure Ghostwire: Tokyo.

Through the establishment of the Japanese corporation, Krafton plans to develop the next installment of Hi-Fi Rush and pursue new projects. They are also currently working on the complete transfer of ownership of the Hi-Fi Rush IP, which is owned by MS.

A company representative stated, "The establishment of Tango Gameworks symbolizes our first step into the Japanese market. We will strive to provide differentiated experiences to global gamers."
