The National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters conducted a search and seizure at former Minister Kim's residence in Seoul, the official residence of the Minister of National Defense, and the minister's office on the morning of the same day. They obtained a court-issued warrant to seize communication records related to former Minister Kim and secured call logs as well. The search warrant for former Minister Kim specified charges of rebellion under the Criminal Act and mutiny under the Military Criminal Act.

While the prosecution urgently arrested former Minister Kim and confiscated his mobile phone, the police appear to be accelerating efforts to secure evidence to prove the charges. Former Minister Kim voluntarily appeared at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office around 1:30 a.m., was investigated, then urgently arrested and transferred to the Seoul Eastern Detention Center. Because of this, the police were somewhat late in securing his custody and evidence.

On the 6th, the police formed a dedicated investigation team of about 120 personnel for this incident, and decided to expand the team to about 150 by adding around 30 more investigators, including the head of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's investigation department, officers from the National Investigation Headquarters' Major Crime Investigation Division, and the Crime Intelligence Division.

The police have voluntarily obtained the mobile phones of four individuals: Police Chief Jo Ji-ho, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Chief Kim Bong-sik, National Assembly Security Commander Mok Hyun-tae, and Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency Chief Kim Jun-young, and are conducting forensic analysis. Additionally, they have secured radio communication records of police officers from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency who were deployed to the National Assembly building and the Central Election Management Committee building on the day of the martial law, to ascertain the circumstances.
