Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and considered the main contributor to Trump's successful re-election, has been revealed as the largest political donor in the United States this year. The amount he spent to secure Trump's victory is estimated to be at least $259 million (approximately 368.8 billion KRW).

Recent local media reports cited the latest figures from the U.S. Federal Election Commission to report this.

Musk donated $239 million to the super PAC he directly established to support Trump's election, called "America PAC." He also contributed an additional $20 million to "RGB PAC," a group that promoted the idea that Trump would not sign a nationwide abortion ban. Bloomberg News suggested that Musk's total donations might be even higher.

The nonprofit organization OpenSecrets analyzed that Musk's total political donations this year reached at least $274 million. This figure is overwhelmingly higher compared to the second place. The second-largest donor, investor Timothy Mellon, donated $150 million (approximately 213.6 billion KRW) to the Republican Party.

However, it is assessed that Musk gained even more. On the day after Trump's election victory was confirmed, Musk's assets increased by $26.5 billion (approximately 37.73 trillion KRW), thanks to Tesla's soaring stock price. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) stated, "Musk's personal wealth is expected to increase by more than $100 billion (approximately 142.4 trillion KRW) after the election," adding, "Investors are betting that Musk's deep involvement with the Trump administration will benefit his companies."

Local media evaluated, "With his massive donations, Musk has become one of the largest donors in U.S. presidential campaigns in history, a strong political ally of Trump, and now a key figure in shaping the policy agenda of the next Republican administration."
