"Cannot Accept Other Alternatives in Statement"
National Assembly to Vote on Impeachment Bill Today at 5 PM
The Democratic Party of Korea has firmly stated that it will accept no alternatives other than the 'immediate resignation' of President Yoon Suk-yeol, ahead of his anticipated national address.
On the morning of the 7th, Chief Spokesperson Cho Seung-rae announced the party's position at the National Assembly, saying, "We are revealing the Democratic Party's stance regarding President Yoon's address," and added, "We cannot recognize any alternative that allows him to remain in office." He continued, "If this is rejected, the National Assembly will impeach President Yoon," and stated, "We cannot tolerate a traitor to the nation continuing to serve as president."
Furthermore, he said, "The rebellion caused by President Yoon is still ongoing, and attempts at a second and third martial law could happen at any time." He also emphasized, "President Yoon's very existence is putting the Republic of Korea in crisis and making the people anxious."
The National Assembly is scheduled to vote on the impeachment motion against President Yoon at 5 p.m. that day.
