Intelligence Committee's Urgent Inquiry on the 7th Regarding Allegations of Yoon's Order to Arrest Politicians During Martial Law Yonhap News

The National Assembly Intelligence Committee will hold a plenary session on the 7th to conduct an urgent inquiry regarding the 'Emergency Martial Law Incident.' Attending the inquiry will be Cho Tae-yong, Director of the National Intelligence Service, along with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Deputy Directors.


During the inquiry, lawmakers from both ruling and opposition parties are expected to focus on allegations that President Yoon Seok-yeol, at the time of declaring emergency martial law on the 3rd, instructed Hong Jang-won, the 1st Deputy Director of the National Intelligence Service, to cooperate with the Counterintelligence Command to arrest People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon and Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung.


Deputy Director Hong claimed that he received the related orders directly from President Yoon. However, Director Cho stated that he never received any orders from President Yoon to arrest politicians.
