Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will hold a special lecture featuring a guest speaker titled "Gwangnaru Academy" at the Gwangjin-gu Office auditorium on the 12th.
Now in its 15th year, Gwangnaru Academy is a lifelong education program that invites prominent figures such as renowned professors, writers, and broadcasters active in various fields of society to deliver lectures to the residents of Gwangjin-gu.
This lecture will feature Lee Seung-jae, a famous film critic, as the speaker. Lee Seung-jae currently writes the column "Lee Seung-jae's Movieholic" for the Dong-A Ilbo and has authored film-related books such as "The CEO with Popcorn" and "Writing at the Cinema."
The lecture, titled "Communication and Empathy Explored Through Films with Over 10 Million Viewers," will be held for 90 minutes starting at 4 p.m. It will explore the hidden commonalities of Korean films that have surpassed 10 million viewers, discover the meanings embedded in famous movie lines, and engage the speaker and the audience in a discussion about the importance of communication and empathy.
Registration is open to 200 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents wishing to participate can apply through the Gwangjin-gu Office website or the Lifelong Education Division of Gwangjin-gu Office. Anyone interested in films can join free of charge.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "Following Gwangjin-gu’s designation as a lifelong learning city in 2022 and the opening of the Lifelong Learning Center last year, we have been making various efforts to realize the value of lifelong education that resonates with residents' lives. We hope many residents will show interest and participate in this Gwangnaru Academy, where they can learn the importance of communication and empathy through the familiar theme of films."
In addition to the special lectures featuring guest speakers, Gwangjin-gu operates various educational programs to expand lifelong learning opportunities for residents, including programs at the Lifelong Learning Center and information technology education for residents.
