Foreign media reported that ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip have resumed.
On the 6th (local time), Basem Naim, a political bureau member of the Palestinian armed faction Hamas residing in Turkey, said in an interview with AP News, "Discussions have revived in the past few days."
He added, "We have not yet received a well-structured firm proposal," and "If the other side has the intention of a (ceasefire), reaching an agreement would not be a major challenge."
Regarding the call by then President-elect Donald Trump to end the Gaza conflict, he said, "It could have a positive impact on the situation."
AP cited an anonymous official reporting that Qatar has returned as a mediator in the ceasefire negotiations. Previously, last month, Qatar had suspended mediation, stating that neither Israel nor Hamas was willing to engage in dialogue.
